CISCE National Volleyball Tournament

National Volleyball Tournament for boys and girls from the across country was hosted by St. Jude’s Public School & Junior College, Kotagiri from 29th September to 2nd October, 2019. The grand fest was held in the newly renovated grand games arena. Dr. Godwin Daniel, observer from CISCE was the chief guest at the opening ceremony. The matches for the girls were held on the 29th and 30th September and 10 regions participated in two different divisions (Under 17 and Under 19 ). The teams were divided into two pools and the matches were played on league cum knock-out basis. After two days of battling Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar, Jharkhand were selected for the semifinals in the under-17 division. Bihar, Jharkhand and Maharashtra were eliminated and Tamil Nadu and Karnataka met in the finals .At the end of a tough match Karnataka emerged champions and Tamil Nadu finished Runner up. In the under – 19 girls, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat played the finals and Tamil Nadu emerged Triumphant. Mr. Shiva Vikram , IPS , Palakkad , an ex- Judian was the chief guest for the closing ceremony. He gave away the prizes and spoke of his former days at school. The tournament for the girls came to an end with the National Anthem.

The Boys matches were played on the 1st & 2nd of October. Mr. Kalaichelvan, IPS of Nilgiris was present to kick - off the games. 11 regions from across the country participated in two categories (Under-17 & Under-19) .They too were divided into two pools and played the matches on a league cum knock out basis. All the teams were well prepared and each game they played was a thriller. After exciting rounds, Tamil Nadu met U.P and U.K in the finals in the Under- 17 category .Both the teams played with great enthusiasm and finally T.N proved to be better opponents and won the championship. In the under-19 category , Tamil Nadu played the mighty Bihar boys who were a determined lot. The finals proved to be the real feast to all present and after a gruelling game, Tamil Nadu won the championship yet again .Mr. Kalaichelvan, IPS was present for the closing ceremony too and gave away the prizes. This year’s volleyball celebration came to a close with the National Anthem.
